About 70 people gathered on Sunday, December 28, 2025 to find Violet. Searchers said the dog ran fast, but she was quickly captured.
On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a two-vehicle accident. The accident occurred on Highway 17 N at Chick-A-Dee Peek Road.

The caller informed police that the driver of the striking vehicle hit the caller's vehicle while attempting to pass in a no passing zone. The vehicles pulled over, and the striking vehicle hit the caller's vehicle again. The caller said the driver of the striking vehicle was trying to start an altercation with the caller.

Oneida County Deputies responded and saw the vehicle leaving the accident. According to police, "When Oneida County deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, it accelerated and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle committed several traffic offenses, including reaching speeds of over 100 MPH while continuing to travel south on Highway 17 N. The vehicle then turned onto Stevens Street and continued into the City of Rhinelander at a high rate of speed. The operator also failed to stop for stop signs, traffic signals, operating in the oncoming lane of travel, and passing on the right. The vehicle turned onto Oneida Street and then onto Highway 8 W where a short distance later an Oneida County Deputy performed a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) successfully. However, the operator drove out of the ditch and continued on Highway 8 W. The operator continued east on Kemp Street and turned north on Oneida Avenue. The operator continued to Frederick Street, then onto Baird Avenue, then east on Timber Drive. The operator went east on Timber Drive, and, as the operator crossed Highway 17 N, an Oneida County Deputy rammed the operator’s vehicle. The operator continued down County Highway C. The operator then drove north onto the east end of Camp Brynn Afron Road. The operator then turned down a logging road and was taken into custody without incident."
On Friday, July 12, 2024, Greg Bohn and his wife, Audrey, were near their home in the Town of Hazelhurst when a three-vehicle accident occurred at approximately 2:26 p.m., according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses state that the Bohn's car was northbound on Hwy. 51 near South Blue Lake Road. It stopped in its lane of traffic, waiting to turn left into the private driveway. A vehicle, driven by an 85-year-old man, was traveling behind them and hit the Bohn's vehicle from behind, pushing it into the southbound lane. The Bohn's vehicle was then struck by a southbound vehicle. Emergency services responded, but Greg and Audrey, both age 70, died at the scene. The 85-year-old man was injured and taken to the medical center. A 23-year-old Arbor Vitae man was treated at the scene.

A crash reconstruction was completed as part of the investigation into the accident.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office, Woodruff Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Minocqua Fire Department, Cassian Fire Department, Hazlehurst Fire Department, Oneida County Ambulances, and Oneida County Highway Department.

The Bohns are well-known in the area. For many years, Greg and Audrey operated Strictly Walleye Headquarters, a bait and tackle store. The couple also created the Stinger Tackle Company. Greg held many patents and trademarks for his fishing innovations. He wrote many articles and some books about fishing. He spoke at seminars and guided many people on how to catch fish. Primarily, he focused on walleye fishing. In his over 40 years in the fishing industry, he promoted education, design of tackle, and innovation. He designed first of a kind snag-proof walleye tackle products. He held four “Catch & Release” line-class walleye records. A fish he caught, a 56-inch, 44-pound, 8-ounce musky, was the longest registered in North America in 1993, and the fish received first place in a contest called the Vilas County Musky Marathon. Greg was inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame in 2016. In an article posted on his website, he stated, "My goal was to be the best Wisconsin Northwood's walleye guide to wet a line." Many would agree that he more than met that goal, plus many people expressed, in online condolences, the respect they had for him and Audrey as people.

Speaking of Audrey, the Howard Young Foundation (HYF) shared this statement, "Audrey joined HYF in 2009 after 13 years in accounting at Howard Young Medical Center. She brought so much passion into all that she did from her attention to detail, financial management, always greeting everyone with her smile, her positive attitude, and even being a dedicated dock volunteer even after retirement at the Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival. She was always the first person in the office every morning, making sure the coffee was made and everything was ready to go every day until she retired in 2020. She was truly a special part of our organization, and we are all shocked and saddened to have learned of her loss."

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office is asking for assistance with locating Cody Kamrath.

Kamrath is approximately 150 pounds and 5 feet 7 inches tall. He has shoulder-length, curly, light brown hair that some may describe has a reddish color to it. He has blue eyes. He is 26 years old. According to recent videos posted by Kamrath on his social media page, to further help the public identify him, it appears his front teeth are missing in a jagged fashion.

If you see Kamrath, police ask that you do not approach him or attempt to make contact with him in any way. Instead, call the Oneida County Dispatch Center immediately. Their phone number is 715-361-5201. If you feel you are in danger, immediately dial 911.
While the Oneida County Sheriff's Office is the office requesting the public to immediately report if Kamrath is seen, he could be anywhere in the northwoods so everyone should be on the lookout. He is listed in the Wisconsin circuit court's database with closed offenses and pending alleged crimes in Lincoln County. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office added, "This individual has been witnessed in multiple locations including Rhinelander and Minocqua." Some people on social media are stating he also frequents the Tomahawk area. His social media videos often show him walking the streets or in the woods.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office added, "Please only call if you are witnessing this individual at the present time. We are not looking for additional information on where he has been in the past at this time."

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the Minocqua Police Department was informed there was a suspicious vehicle in the area. When officers went to the scene, the vehicle was gone.

Since a license plate number was reported to the police, they found the vehicle was registered to Cody J. Huebner, 32, of Shawano. He had a Probation Warrant for his arrest.

Minocqua Police Department officers were able to locate the vehicle in a business parking lot. They attempted to make contact with Huebner, who was entering the vehicle. When approached, Huebner, continued to get into the vehicle and led law enforcement on a high speed pursuit southbound on Highway 51. In the Hazelhurst area, Huebner crashed his vehicle. He then ran on foot into the woods. Huebner pointed a handgun toward of one of the pursuing officers, telling the officer that he was not going back to jail.

In the on-foot pursuit, Huebner attempted to enter a home but was unable to gain entry. He then found an unlocked vehicle in a driveway. It had keys inside, and Huebner stole the vehicle.

While driving away, Huebner struck one of the deputies, who received injuries that are not life threatening.

Huebner led law enforcement on an eight mile chase, which reached speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour on ice covered roads. Huebner then exited the car and ran into the woods near Little Bearskin Lake.

After approximately two hours, Huebner and was arrested in the area of South Shore Road and Pollnow Road, which is in the Town of Cassian.

Huebner was taken to the Oneida County Jail where he is at this time. He is being held for a Probation Warrant. Charges related to this incident will be added in the next few days.

Personnel from the Minocqua Police Department, the Woodruff Police Department, the Rhinelander Police Department, the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Oneida County Emergency Services, and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office were involved in the situation that led to Huebner's arrest.
