On Monday, March 2, 2026, a 56-year-old man named Terry DuSell, Ladysmith, was reported as possibly missing. His family had not had contact with him and were concerned of his whereabouts.

Upon investigation, law enforcement developed a person of interest in Terry's disappearance. That person of interest was identified as Charles Allers, 62, Radisson. Charles was taken into custody for an unrelated probation warrant. He is currently at the Sawyer County Jail.

Terry's wife, Elizabeth DuSell, 55, was taken into custody as another person of interest and is at the Rusk County Jail.

On March 3, 2026, investigators found Terry DuSell, who was deceased.

According to Phil Grassmann, Rusk County sheriff, the investigation is ongoing and very active but there is no threat to the public at this time.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigations, LCO Tribal Police, LCO Conservation Department, and Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.

UPDATED 3-4-2026:

According to the criminal complaint, which was released by the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, a family member reported Terry missing on March 2, 2026, having last seen him on February 26, 2026. His vehicle information was given to the police. The vehicle was found, but it was being driven by Charles Allers. Charles was currently in custody for a probation warrant. He said he found the truck with the keys in it at a motel in Rice Lake, so he took it.

On March 3, 2026, Charles was interviewed by police in Sawyer County. Charles admitted to having an intimate relationship with the victim's wife, Elizabeth DuSell, for about two months. He occasionally stayed at a secondary residence on the property where Terry was killed, though Terry did not know he stayed there, and Terry did not know about the affair, according to Charles and Elizabeth. Charles and Elizabeth had spoken about how things would be different if Terry was not in the picture, and Charles said they talked at length about killing Terry. Charles said he told Elizabeth that they could not say it was a crime of passion, because they had lengthy historical discussions about killing him.

Charles admitted to killing Terry after 3 a.m. on February 28, 2026. While in the main residence, he stated he went outside and retrieved the .22 Ruger handgun that Elizabeth told him was in the victim's truck. Charles went upstairs, hesitated two times, but ultimately said he felt no emotional connection to the victim, nor would he ever apologize to the family of the victim for what he did. He said he shot Terry six or seven times, and as he went downstairs, he heard Terry fall out of bed.

Charles then removed the body from the house using a thick rope, duct tape, and bedding. Once outside, a tow rope was tied to the other rope, binding the deceased man. Terry's truck was backed up, and the body was dragged from the porch to a resting location behind a cattle trailer. The body was concealed with a blanket and out of vision of the driveway and residence.

According to Sheriff Grassmann, "Elizabeth DuSell was given a $25,000 cash bond today in Rusk County Court for the charge of Hiding a Corpse. More charges will be forthcoming in the very near future." The sheriff also stated that more updates would be shared when available. He reminded the public that all persons are innocent until proven guilty.

According to Sheriff Phil Grassmann, the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Rusk County IT Department, and Chippewa County Sheriff's Office have been investigating a crime for the last several weeks regarding illegal recording of a closed session meeting.

The county board meeting where the alleged illegal recording took place was held on August 26, 2025. Two siblings, in their thirties, have been arrested and charged with violating WI SS 968.31.

Sheriff Grassman stated that illegally recording a closed session meeting "impedes the ability of a governmental body to discuss matters with reasonable expectation of privacy." He added, "It makes no difference to me if you are elected or appointed to local office, a member of the general public, or what position or title you hold. If you commit or attempt to commit a crime in Rusk County, you will be investigated and arrested if there is probable cause that such a crime was committed."

According to Rusk County District Attorney John Cabranes, there is an e-mail chain used by various district attorneys to collaborate on ideas and give insight into various cases. In that e-mail chain, John states that a district attorney from another county in Wisconsin posted, “So I have a question to all of you, considering the way these things have been going nationally, in what looks like a violation of due process. I will confess, I am not the smartest person in the room, but the way ICE is doing this, masked, no hearings, no warrants ( I’m assuming, I could be wrong, I’ve not had this in my county yet), are we obligated to assist in this?” That e-mail was followed up with, "Because, frankly, my gut tells me this is wrong.”

DA Cabranes states that he replied, "You are not alone. The way this is going down is wrong and will eventually lead to violence. ICE will get no cooperation from my office so long as they continue these abusive tactics.”

According to DA Cabranes, that was the full exchange between the two district attorneys on the matter. However, he adds that one of their colleagues sent the exchange to a Milwaukee radio show. DA Cabranes stated the show's host accused both district attorneys of attempting to set up sanctuary counties.

John Cabranes issued a press release in response to the radio talk show host's allegations, as follows:

"I have been proudly serving the people of Rusk County since May of 2024 in the capacity of Assistant District Attorney and as the District Attorney since my appointment last September and confirmed by the election in November. Before joining the Rusk County District Attorney it was my honor to defend individuals in criminal proceedings for 28 years and later, after 2011, assist people in legalizing their status in this country. I make no apologies for that since none are warranted.

"Over my years as a practicing attorney, I acquired a deep respect for the rule of law and the constitutional rights of my clients. Due process, which everyone in this country is entitled to, and the Constitutional protections against illegal searches and seizures are at the very core of our legal system. When I saw the Polk County District Attorney express his concerns about the way ICE was handling the seizures and detentions of undocumented people, it mirrored my own concerns and I reached out to him to let him know that I understood his concerns and that I shared them.

"As a matter of conscience, I cannot support the trampling of anyone’s constitutional rights and I have made the decision that this office will not cooperate with ICE (as my response indicated) “so long as they continue to use these abusive tactics”. Those tactics have included rounding up United States citizens and detaining them until they provide proof that they are in fact, a United States Citizen. That’s not the way we do things in this country or in Rusk County. Because of that, I cannot assist any ICE operations in this County.

"Being committed to due process and safeguarding constitutional rights is not incompatible with holding people accountable for committing crimes in this jurisdiction. So long as I am the District Attorney, if a crime committed in Rusk County the criminal will be arrested, prosecuted and dealt with according to law. That’s true whether you are brown, black or white, whether your name is Smith or Garcia. Rusk County is not, and will not be, a Sanctuary County. Anyone who says differently is not telling the truth."

JELD-WEN notified employees on Thursday, April 11, 2024 that they will be closing two manufacturing locations. One is in Vista, California. The other is in Hawkins, Wisconsin.

Hawkins manufactures wooden windows and has about 340 employees at the plant. Most employees will no longer be employed at the plant by August 2024 with the full closure by March 2025. That operation will be consolidated into the facility in Rantoul, Illinois. The cost will be about $24 million to consolidate but will improve income by $7 million.

According to a press release, JELD-WEN said they made the decision to “simplify its North American windows operations.” The company says this is a step in JELD-WEN’s transformation, which will strengthen the foundation of the company for profitable growth in the future.

Caryn Klebba, the head of global public relations, stated the company values the contributions of its employees who will be able to apply within the company in any open positions at other sites.

Adam Rosolowski, 23, and Joseph Falk, 19, entered "guilty" pleas on Monday, April 11, 2022 in the double homicide case that resulted in the deaths of Rosolowski's grandparents, Robert and Bonnie Rosolowski, in June 2020 in Conrath, Wisconsin.

Rosolowski stated he wanted to kill his grandparents because they "messed up his life." Rosolowski shot his grandmother, and Falk fired shots at both victims. Rosolowski also led police on a high-speed chase through Price County. He was arrested and in jail at the time another grandson discovered their deceased grandparents.

Rosolowski and Falk were slated to have a trial that would have started on Monday, April 11th, but their pleas canceled the trial. Judge Steven Anderson accepted their guilty pleas. He then read-in and dismissed the eight other charges against Rosolowski and five other charges against Falk. Rosolowski and Falk will be sentenced in late July 2022.

An underage male, who was slated to be the getaway driver, entered a guilty plea in May 2021 as a party to the crime. He was sentenced to probation. If he violates the probation, he will have to serve time in prison.
