On September 21, 2023, administration at the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office learned of allegations of possible domestic abuse by a Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy.
The investigation was handed over to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. During the investigation, investigators had probable cause to believe that a 28-year old deputy from Hayward committed a number of crimes. Those crimes include domestic battery, false imprisonment, strangulation & suffocation, and stalking.
The deputy was arrested. He is currently in jail. A court date has not yet been set for his initial appearance.
The case remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The public is advised that a charge is only an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
