POLICE REPORTS: JULY 2024


Reports received by the police departments in Price County for the month have been condensed and summarized.


PRICE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Seven of the eight July and August reports have not been received as of 9-15-2024.  The sheriff's office will be submitting these reports to us soon, and we will update this article once the reports are received.

PHILLIPS POLICE DEPARTMENT

7-1-24:  Learned of a water leak at the Phillips Campgrounds' rest rooms.  There was a broken water line in boiler room.

7-3-24:  Stopped a vehicle on North Lake Avenue for passing another vehicle on the right at an intersection in a crosswalk.  The driver was issued a written warning.

7-3-24:  Completed a bar compliance check of two local establishments.

7-3-24:  Assisted the Price County Sheriff's Office with a male individual who left his residence in Kennan with a rifle and was walking down the road.  While responding, an officer was advised the male individual was back at the residence and left in a vehicle.  An officer arrived on scene and observed the male individual had returned.  The officer detained the male individual and spoke with the female complainant and the male individual.  Price County deputies arrived on scene.

7-5-24:  Received a phone call from a business owner reporting a water line break.  Phillips Police contacted Phillips Department of Public Works and they responded to handle the problem.

7-5-24:  Received a report of a female individual who was intoxicated and bothering patrons at the fairgrounds, asking for a phone.  An officer and Price County deputy spoke with the female individual and located a ride.  The female individual was also barred from the event.

7-6-24:  Received a report of a 7-year-old girl at the city beach who was not supervised by her parents.  The officer contacted the parent and advised that there was concern that the child was not supervised.

7-7-24:  Responded to the Price County Jail to assist with an inmate who attempted to harm themselves.

7-7-24:  Received a complaint from a man that there were individuals making fun of him, and he requested an officer speak with them to tell them to stop.

7-15-24:  Received a complaint of a male and female arguing through the windows of their vehicles.  The female driver backed her vehicle up and ran into the driver's side of the male driver's vehicle.  The female driver drove off and fled the scene.  An officer took statements from witnesses.  The female was located and arrested for disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, and four counts of felony bail jumping.  The female was also issued three citations for reckless driving by endangering safety, hit and run on an attended vehicle, and failure to notify police of an accident.

7-15-24:  Received a complaint of a dog that broke through a window screen and went after another dog who was being walked by its owner.  An officer arrived and was able to get the dog back into the residence and close the open window from outside.  The officer collected statements and spoke to the owner of the dog. A  city ordinance citation was issued to the owner for animal assault/attack domestic animal.

7-20-24:  Contacted by a citizen who was reporting a bear in the area of their residence.  An officer spoke with the resident who advised the bear has been continually coming into their yard and the last time was approximately four days ago.  An officer provided the citizen with the phone number for USDA Wildlife Services.

7-20-24:  Received a call from a business which stated three people came in and were acting suspicious and left.  Officers patrolled the area and did not locate the subjects.

7-22-24:  Assisted the Price County Sheriff's Office and the Ashland County Sheriff's Office with a search warrant outside the City of Phillips.  One female was taken into custody.

7-23-24:  Received a complaint of a vehicle pulled into a driveway at 3:00 a.m., and a male subject got out and was looking into the window of the complainant's residence.  The subject left in his vehicle shortly after.  The complainant was not able to get a license plate number of the vehicle and would like extra patrol.

7-23-24:  Received a complaint of a woman who approached a construction worker and demanded a ride home.  Price County deputies arrived on scene and tried to talk to the woman who became combative and struck one of the deputies and spit on another.  The woman was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery to a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

7-26-24:  Notified of a two-vehicle crash in the parking lot of the grocery store.

7-27-24:  Requested to assist the Price County Corrections staff with a situation in the jail.

7-30-24:  Received a phone call of suspicious activity in the City of Phillips at the grocery store.  This matter is under investigation.

7-30-24:  Stopped at a residence for follow-up on an investigation and learned a subject at the residence had a body-only warrant out of Price County.  An officer confirmed the warrant and arrested the male.  The male was transported to the Price County Jail.

7-30-24:  Received a complaint of a male that walked onto his neighbor's property and began to mow the lawn without being asked.  The male then wanted to get paid for mowing the complainant's lawn.  The complainant wanted the subject warned to stay off her property.  An officer spoke to the male subject and warned him.

PARK FALLS POLICE DEPARTMENT

7-3-24:  Took a phone complaint about a road rage incident.  A man, possibly in his 60s, followed a woman to her home so closely with the SUV's headlights so close behind her car.  He then stopped at the end of her driveway to tell her to "stop tailgating" and called her a name when she said he had the wrong person because she was not tailgating.  A second road rage incident occurred later that day with the same suspect vehicle being described.

7-4-24:  An officer observed a fire in an automotive parking lot.  An officer used the squad's extinguisher to put out the fire, and contacted the fire department.

7-4-24:  Officers responded to 2nd Avenue North, north of 9th Street North, for the report of a two-vehicle accident.

7-5-24:  A doctor reported unwanted communication to his cell phone.  He did not interact with the caller, blocked the number, and reported it as junk.  He requested police determine the owner of the number and let him know so he would know whether or not to change his phone number.

7-6-24:  A felony domestic abuse incident was reported.  Both subjects were aggressors and make allegations of battery and strangulation.  Both subjects were arrested and transported to Price County Jail.

7-7-24:  A single-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of City Wells Road and Hwy. 182.  The county took the crash and subsequent OWI over upon their arrival.

7-8-24:  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle.  Upon investigation, criminal charges were to be referred for the possession of drug paraphernalia.

7-9-24:  Received a complaint of a trailer filled with junk in a yard located on Atwood Avenue and assigned the complaint to an officer.  The property owner was given seven days to remove the trailer.

7-9-24:  Police dispatched to the theater for a suspicious male carrying a firearm who was going in and out of the theater multiple times.  The subject then parked across the road from the theater and sat in his vehicle.  An officer located and identified the male subject and an additional female subject.  The subjects said they were interested in purchasing the building and were thoroughly checking it out.

7-10-24:  Performed a traffic stop with K9 sniff which yielded suspected methamphetamine and paraphernalia.  One suspect was arrested and charges were to be referred.

7-11-24:  A male reported that in 2008, when he was 14 years old, he had been sexually assaulted by a 19-year-old male.

7-11-24:  Received a burning complaint where a loud explosion was heard.  An officer spoke with the reporting party, who was willing to complete a statement.  The officer met with the suspects who showed the fire pit they had.  The officer saw garbage items had been burnt, and they were issued a citation for the offense.

7-12-24:  Multiple complaints of theft were reported at the grocery store.

7-18-24:  Responded for an ATV rollover with injury.  The operator of the ATV was transported to the hospital with injuries and cited for numerous violations.

7-18-24:  An officer conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle.  Upon investigation, an officer seized drug paraphernalia, THC, and a firearm.

7-20-24:  Asked by Phillips Police Department to photograph a vehicle that was stopped by Price County deputies in the City of Park Falls.  The vehicle was involved in several hit and run incidents in the City of Phillips.

7-25-24:  Responded to a two-vehicle crash between a pickup truck and a dump truck in the 400 block of 4th Avenue South.

7-25-24:  Assisted Price County Sheriff’s Office with a truck vs. tractor crash.  Minor injuries reported.

7-25-24:  An intoxicated male individual was located in an alley passed out.  The male denied injury and was ultimately given a ride to a property by a Price County Sheriff’s Office deputy.

7-26-24:  An individual called and stated that he was stranded in a canoe on Smith Lake.  As much information as possible was collected and dispatch notified.  Chief Nevelier went to Smith Lake, flagged down a boat, located the distressed person in the canoe, and brought him back to the boat landing.

7-27-24:  Spoke to a complainant who wanted to know if he could attend church tomorrow.  After talking to the head staff at the church, the complainant wasn't allowed to attend service and wouldn't be allowed to attend until notified otherwise.
